☆CAPIN Support dogs and cats in Jyoso, Ibaraki, afflicted area by Typhoon 18.
During the rescue activity, CAPIN had heavy rain damage by Typhoon 18 in Jyoso, Ibaraki.
We help CAPIN to accept puppies, and also take back the afflicted dogs.
Nekono Maria (http://nekohitomaria.blog109.fc2.com/) accepts cats.
Mrs.Tsuruta, who is a delegate of CAPIN, guided me to the afflicted place, and showed me where many cats were sheltering.
Around Kinugawa river, the rice field is wrecked.
The rice had not been cut down yet.
The trees were submerged in the water, and had changed color.
It is dusty everywhere.
The residents who came home were cleaning the houses.
It looked like many volunteers were helping them.
There were big piles of refuse.
Heaps of waste everywhere.
It will be problematic to store and dispose of it.
This is the hardware shop where many people were on the roof, images of which were broadcast on TV many times.
This is an area where the damage was heavy.
Shelter.
This is a gymnasium.
Put up a number, and make partitions with cardboard.
No privacy.
Maybe one can be patient for 1 day or 2 days though…
There are so many support supplies, but useful things are few.
There was a flyer on the wall from an animal welfare organization offering to take care of pets.
I’ll report to you later about the situation of the animals.

Can we save the stray dogs in Jyoso, Ibaraki?

The hard activity for the rescue of stray dogs continues.
This action may be rash, but life is life.
If no one does this, all of them will be killed.
It is a big help that many people understand this activity.
Your support gives life to stray dogs that otherwise would have been finished.
I want to protect them.
We are using your donations carefully.
I thank you so deeply.
Our aim is to protect all.
However everything is so difficult.
Preparation of the places to receive them doesn’t match the speed of their propagation.
Government authorities set the problem aside, and space for receiving them is inadequate, as is man power, volunteer transportation, capture cages for dogs, and activity funding.
The other day, when I went to Fukushima, I stopped by a humane association in Iwaki at the end of the first day.
I know they have capture cages for dogs from their activity right after the disaster.
I went to ask them if we could borrow them.
The capture cage for dogs cost over 100,000 yen.
But it is so difficult to capture stray dogs, and we certainly need the capture cage.
I borrowed 2 of them.
From tonight, CAPIN and a volunteer will set the capture cages.
This is to allow them to live, and not to kill them.
This is a big difference from the strategy of the authorities.
We need many capture cages.
We have to give back these 2 capture cages after a week.
They also need them in Iwaki,.
After the rescue, we have to do sterilization, vaccination, examination for filaria, and various treatments.
Mrs. Tsuruta and I have to pay these fees.
This is the reality, and it feels so discouraging.
The full scale protection starts from now, but it is financially already in the red.
The situation is miserable.
If we don’t do sterilization, puppies are continually born.
Normally one dog has 7 puppies.
When we protect one dog, somewhere else 7 puppies are born, another place 7 puppies, and 3 puppies there…
They were born into such a bad situation.
On the ground there are so many mosquitos.
Most of the puppies under one year old in Jyoso test positive for filaria.
A mother dog decided to give birth under the tractor.
For these puppies, this is a safe place to avoid rain and wind.
Their whole bodies were covered with mosquitos, fleas, and ants.
Why don’t human beings want to help such small lives, that live desperately in such situations.
How can human beings say to kill them.
Kill them using tax moneys.
We rescued 7 puppies that started to move, and were at risk.
We can’t protect the mother dog yet.
There are many mother dogs, but which one is the mother of which puppy?
This is a severe environment for puppies.
Their bodies are covered with fleas, and itchy skin irritation from mites.
We need medicine, and vaccine to avoid parvovirus.
We also need nutritious food.
As there are so many, it costs a lot.
But I can’t turn away from these lives.
CAPIN faces a hard rescue.
We Inuneko Kyusainowa and TNR Japan Animal Welfare Hospital support the of rescue all dogs.
We must not let these dogs give birth anymore.
Sterilization is an urgent matter.
