Only a little time is left for rescuing
Face of desperate rescuing with the strongest members. We have to save lives now. We don’t have enough time. But the lives which are waiting for rescue are too many.
We could carry only 15 cats in the car.
For other cats, we leave the food about 2t in 100 feeding points. For 1 cat, 10Kg food. But this is certainly not enough.

If we could have the permission to go into the no-entry zone with 10 cars, we could rescue 150 lives in one day.
It is so mortifying.
How exasperating that I can’t save all the lives. It is not impossible. How sad this is.
But still I wish to get the permission to go into the no-entry zone. It is so sad to think about our government allowing such tragedy. This is really stupid as human being.
The volunteers’ desperate rescue activity is still continuing now.

Thank all of you for sending so many foods. I received also so much love.
Why don’t our politicians listen to such good voices?

A cat in Okuma-machi, survived on rice
An old lady in Okuma-machi contacted me. She just returned home temporarily for her second time.
On her first return, she could bring only 3 bags of dried food for her cats. She opened and left all the foods in her house. But she was so worried about cats she didn’t know what to do. Then after a while, she found the information about pets rescue party from Okuma town office. She called me and said that she can’t bring all the cats but she wish we can give them the food.
The situation is hopeless in the no-entry zone in Fukushima. It can’t be helped but it’s difficult to reach the area. Why do we take such risks to save lives? What’s it all for? The duty of police is to catch the people who want to save lives. How could this country became such a poor country?
About this old lady. On her second return, she went with her friends by car. She bought 30,000 yen worth of cat food. Her reason to return home was only for her cats.
She called me again and said she was glad to see her cats even though they had become so thin. I asked her if some foods were still there or not. She said “They broke the bag of rice and ate it. They ran away and I couldn’t capture them. But I left all the food. I can’t leave them like this. Please advise me how I can recue them”.
The owners, animals, rescue party, everyone is suffering.

Dear Prime Minister Noda,
I have heard your speech that you were poor. However have you had the experience of having nothing to eat? We have so many things to learn from poor life. If you have experience of suffering from hunger, you will understand the cruelty to leave the life to die of starvation and you will understand the suffering and pain of others.
Please imagine what hunger is and what death is. Prime Minister Noda and other politicians, what would you think if this happened to yourself?
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
I will go to Fukushima again and again. I want to ask all of you to send your message to our government. Maybe you think that your message won’t change anything. But it is wrong. Your message has the energy to save the owners and their pets.
7 months past from the disaster. But still they are living and suffering to death.

Rescue activity in Fukushima
We appreciate so much your support in sending us cat food. Thank you so much. However it frightened me that this time might be the last time to bring food. Day by day, it is becoming difficult to go into the restricted area.

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Ocotber 23rd, 2011
The route to go in to the restricted area is nearly closed. No one has a right to take the life of animals.
We human beings have wisdom, power and so many things we have been given, but we don’t use them and pushing them aside without helping such small creatures. We are living in such a society in Japan. However I continue this effort and make up for our sins. In suffering area of north west, we need more hands and foods.
An owner who has many dogs and cats requested me to rescue them and I captured 2 dogs and 7 cats. They are all skinny and the hairs are dried out. There are 2 more cats I have to rescue......

The owner asked me to feed them. Then a small cat which looks under 1 year old appeared with tottering steps from a neighboring house. His hunger is much more than the fear and cautiousness. He came into the capture cage after a while. I will help you! Hang on! Still now he can’t take out the drip.

On the way to the next owner’s house, I found a cat in the field. I am glad that she showed herself. Don’t run away! I scattered the food. She looks afraid but jumped on to the food. Quickly I set the capture cage and she came into it immediately. She is too skinny and small. I can imagine she was eating the insects desperately. She still has very bad diarrhea and having drip. Stay alive!!!

I see the gleaming cats’ eyes in the dark. With much hunger, the cat came into the capture cage easily. She has long hair and looks fluffy but too thin. She fawns on people. Where is her owner?

It is hard to imagine his loneliness, alone to be on such mountain trail. He might be abandoned. He looks about 1 year old. His face is very sharp. Eat a lot and get better soon!

She is very frightened but looks like someone’s cat. I am sorry my dear. I promise to take care of you the whole of your life.

You are the only one who is not too skinny. You let me give you some food again and again. But you were also good to run away. I am not your owner so.... The food has gone and you came into the capture cage. Maybe you thought this is the last chance to get food. I really didn’t have time to stay in one place. I am so happy that you are with me now.

We wonder why the owner doesn’t come to pick them up?

I accepted a dog from Minami Sohma city in Fukushima. The owner lives alone. As he has a health problem, now he took refuge in Tokyo. He was worried about his dog which he left behind. He talked with the public office and they said that they had requested before to find a host family, but now it is closed. We TNR Japan Animal Welfare Hospital don’t have time to exchange the information with the public office. Anyway we accepted this dog and promised the owner that we will find a good host family. This dog got in the small space in the car quietly.

As soon as I left, I saw a white dog. I threw some food and he/she grabbed the food with so much hunger and ran away. I was driving on a mountain path in Iidate village for hours and hours. I found many cats and I captured as many as I could. There are no people in Iidate village and Kawauchi village. The cats are eating insects and they all too skinny. We need more hands to recue them.

Then I drove along a long mountain trail. Why would a cat stay alone on such mountain trail? They are attached to people and must be someone’s cat. Why would they come into such a deep mountain.....
The owner’s loves save the life - Maron
In April, I had a request to rescue a cat named Maron in Tomioka-cho. A volunteer who was with me found Maron quickly but couldn't capture him. After that, this volunteer continued to give him food and water.
Then on October 14th, the owner of Maron could temporary go home and luckily meet Maron. The volunteer said that Maron had struggled to live alone for 6 months. The owner’s loves supports him.”
Since March 11th, 2011, the animal rescue party and volunteers which had rescue request have never given up rescuing the pets. Still now, they are trying so hard to give them the food and water to save their life. If they are alive, they can be rescued someday somehow. If the owner also tries hard to find their pets, it can be more possible to rescue them like Maron.
In fact, there are so many pets that are on the boundary line of life and death.
I deeply hope the owner won’t miss the chance when they temporarily go home and will try to get the permission to go in officially again and again to find their pets. Only the owner can save their life with their love for pets abandoned by our government. I want to sey to the owner that “Please do not give up! Let’s do our best together to save your family!”.

Came back from Fukushima
I left Kawasaki for Fukushima last Saturday at 19:00. Then came back today on Monday 3am. I didn’t sleep for 43 hours.
In Fukushima, the cats seems to be eating insects desperately. It is not enough to keep their strength. They are very small and skinny. Their stomachs are empty and back bones are sticking out. It is a pathetic sight. It is quite sure that they can only wait for death. And unfortunately it is not so far. away. It is not rare to see a dead body wearinga collar. It is hard to imagine what they are thinking and how they are feeling...

At our adoption event on October 15 and 16, 1 dog and 7 cats found new families. Thank you so much for your cooperation. However we have to find more, otherwise we can’t accept more dogs and cats from Fukushima.

We need your help!
Your donation allows us to keep doing anything, and everything, that we possibly can to help the abandoned animals in the no-entry evacuation zone and establishing the “Animal House” which can take care of more pets. We would greatly appreciate any help that you can give us.

Abandonment of Kittens

Do you know the future of kittens abandoned at a pet shop or an animal hospital? They will be received by the police and then go to a public health center. The public health center will try to find a host family but as it is not so easy, most kittens will be culled. In Kawasaki city, about 2,000 to 3,000 pets are culled every year. Especially kittens which have not been weaned are put down immediately because they are impossible to keep. The owner who doesn’t have any sense of responsibility throws away the tiny life without sterilization and sacrifices the innocent life. To abandon a life is a serious crime and it cannot be forgiven. We have never forgiven such criminals. TNR Japan Animal Welfare Hospital is pursuing this case.
TNR Japan Animal Welfare Hospital
Kawasaki police department are checking the fingerprints on the corrugated carton and the packing tape. They put up a poster to gather eyewitness accounts. Again, to abandon a life is serious crime. It is liable to a fine of up to 500,000 yen.
No-one should allow pets to be abandoned.
We got contact from the owner of a rescued dog in Fukushima.
A small Dachshund was roaming with some other bigger dogs. He was so thin without enough food. How could he survive? I imagine maybe the big dogs protected this small dog instead of abusing him.
Since he was rescued, he has been loved by his host family. The original owner contacted us and cried. They don’t have a house now. If that disaster had not happened, we would have been calm and happy. We discussed so many times to think about the happiness of this small Dachshund. It is really a difficult decision for the owners but they decided to transfer this dog to the host family.

A woman contacted us about 2 dogs. We found out that she is their owner. These 2 dogs were rescued together and this is why we call them “Okusan” (wife) and “Dannasan” (husband). But she said they are actually brother and sister. A host family in Mitaka is looking after the male dog now. The female dog had a mammary gland tumor and underwent an operation. Since then the volunteers in Fukushima are looking after her. She has closed her mind but finally she understands she is safe now. These 2 dogs are not young. Healthcare is very important. The owner apologizes that she may not care about them so much. She deeply appreciates these host families and decided to transfer these dogs.

It’s been over 6 months after the disaster. However the owners who can’t access the internet information still can’t find their pets.

TNR Japan Animal Welfare Hospital has done 200 sterilizations for dogs and cats in September.
We enforced the sterilizations for rescued dogs and cats from Fukushima free of charge in September. We were able to realize this activity with all of your support. It is far from Fukushima to Kawasaki. It is so much effort by the volunteers who rescued, care about the shelter, care by themselves, find host families and sterilization. The volunteers who have been in action in Fukushima appreciate this activity. We thank you so much for your support.
We also did sterilization for the wild cats and house cats in September. Total number is over 200. It was not so easy for the doctor, staff and volunteers. I thank you so much for all of your effort!
TNR Japan Animal Welfare Hospital is getting bigger and bigger. Before we founded the hospital, we had to bring 50 or 60 dogs and cats to a partner hospital every month. Since we started the hospital, we have done over 100 sterilizations every month. Our rescue activity became busier since the unexpected disaster. But now we have now more doctors and are open every day. I am glad that we are saving so many lives. But this is because of all of your support. I deeply thank all of you who are supporting us in every possible way.
We share the same purpose together. This is how we are now. We think back ourselves as human beings and share the joy, and talk about the future of animal protection. I do my best every day till I am exhausted. However I realize that I am not satisfied yet because it is not completed yet.
The life within the suffering area. The life which has so much pain and loneliness. I want to save all these lives and hold them in my arms. The cold winter is coming soon.
Please do not to forget that still now so many small lives are awaiting our rescue. Please think what you can do. Please think of the people who have been trying to rescue them.

We need your help to found “Animal House”.

To save life!! To rescue suffering life!
Life is not in the past. Life is right now.
I decided to try to make our new animal shelter “Animal House”.
Our shelter in the TNR Japan Animal Welfare Hospital has no vacancy with 57 pets as soon as we finished the construction to extend. We have rescued over 200 pets since the disaster of March 11th. This number does not include the returned pets or those accepted by our volunteers. We are making desperate efforts. I almost gave up so many times. However still so many lives are waiting for our rescue. How I can tell them that I can’t rescue them. I have told myself to make more effort, a little more……
We thank everyone who supports our “Animal Shelter Fund”.
http://inunekokyusainowa.la.coocan.jp/sieruta-setsuritsukikin.htm
The typhoon 9th in 2007 took so many animals lives which were living near Tama River. Then I started to ask the support to make the animal shelter. Since then, we had so much support. At the same time, I had a purpose to found the animal welfare hospital in 5 years. Hospital is first and then animal shelter.
Then the terrible disaster occurred on March 11th, 2011. So many people and animals had their lives taken. Still now so many of them are suffering. Typhoon 15 this year also gave big damage. I was worried about our shelter in Fujimi Park. I realized I don’t have so much time to make the new shelter.
We now gathered 2,240,508 yen to make the new shelter. I thank you so much for this support and we will use this to make the new shelter.
We have also gathered the donations for suffering animals by this disaster. I imagine that this money will hold the hope and love to rescue the pets and find their home. One day I received 500 yen from a child. This must be from the pocket money and very important money for this child. It is full of hope and love. Your wish is my wish. How I can do this activity without such supporters. I apologize that I don’t have a time to write the letter to our supporters in my busy time. However my duty is to respond to the supporters to found “Animal House” and save as many lives as I can.
I thank you so much for your support till now and from now.

The shelter for rescued pets is not enough.
It takes a time to find the host family for the old cats or the cats which are not so friendly or have diseases. However we deeply wish to let them relax with a family, not in a cage.

Think about “Be Kind to Animals Week”
September 20 to 26 every year is “Be Kind to Animals Week”. This year, there were various events throughout the country. However so many animals are waiting for our rescue. To think about the correspondence of our government, their voice talking about animal protection doesn’t reach us.
I want to support a real politician who can speak and behave with faith as a leader and also a human being.

TNR Japan Animal Welfare Hospital has been doing its best to rescue dogs and cats from Fukushima. We are looking for owners or host families, sterilization, to cooperate with other cities for homeless cats etc.
Then the other day, someone left 2 week-old kittens in a corrugated carton in front of our hospital. This is unpardonable. I will report about these kittens later.
I deeply wish the improvement of animal protection and welfare in Japan.
